This blog is a fictionalized retelling of the story of Leon from the 2017 USA run of the larp Just a Little Lovin’ by Tor Kjetil Edlund and Hanne Grasmo. These events are presented primarily from the perspective of the character Leon, played by the author of this blog.

Part I: July 4th, 1982

The first part of this blog chronicles the events of the 4th of July party of 1982 as played in the first act of the game. Some minor timeline changes have been made for storytelling purposes, scenes have been fleshed out, and most of the dialogue has been reinvented, but every attempt has been made to portray the characters and the scenes that took place in good faith.

Interlude: Lottery of Death

In Just a Little Lovin’ death is handled in a metafictional way, with names chosen by lottery. Having experienced it from both sides, I can say as a player that it is one of the most devastatingly effective larp mechanics I have ever been part of, which is why I wanted to write about it from a player perspective. However, if you have not played this game, you may not want to have this part “spoiled” for you. Read this interlude only if you want an intense description of the experience.

Part II: July – April

This section of the blog is entirely my own work of fiction, imagining the events that may have taken place in the months following the end of the party of 1982. Major plot points occurring here were agreed on with the players of the other characters involved, but none of these scenes actually took place during the game.

Note: Some story events taking place in this part are by necessity told from another character’s perspective. These are indicated with the PoV’s character’s name appearing with a colon before the chapter title.

Part III: July 4th, 1983

These are a few of the events of the 1983 4th of July party. I was present as a different character, Francis, but these events are written from an omniscient narrator point of view, to capture the aftermath of the previous year’s deaths.

Part IV: Epilogue

Part V: Rachael

Finale: Others
